Presentation

The Working Group AEN/CTN71/SC7/GT26 - Software Testing (GT26) was set up by AENOR , the Spanish Member Body of ISO, to participate in the development of future ISO standard for software testing, called ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119. The GT26 main mission is to collaborate with the ISO/IEC JTC1/SC7 Working Group 26 (WG26) in its preparation, monitoring of work and channeling of the Spanish position. The GT26 The Working Wroup consists of 19 members from Industry and Universities.

This standard, whose development began in 2007 aims to cover the entire lifecycle of testing software systems including the ones related to the organization, management, design and execution of tests, and to replace several IEEE and BSI standards on software testing. The structure of ISO/IEC/IEEE 29119 consists of five parts, an additional standard for reviews plus an assessment model based on the processes defined in part 2:

History

In August 2008 the first Working Draft for the part 2 was relased for review by various internal and external experts to the committees. Based on comments received and subsequent internal reviews carried out, the process model was reorganized and simplified (September 2009). In 2010 the WD/CD of parts 1, 2 and 3 have been released through the SC7 for review. In 2011 the second CDs of these parts and the first CD of part 4 have been released. During 2012 and 2013 parts 1, 2, and 3 progressed through the DIS and FDIS stages being approved on June 2013. Part 4 progressed to the DIS stage and Part 5 is started.

On August 29th 2013 parts 1, 2 and 3 are finally published as International Standards.

During 2014 the work on the above progresses to the DIS stage for part 5 and an the new 20246 standard is started with the aim to cover some static testing techniques. In 2015 part 4 of 29119 and 33064 have been published as international standards. Later, part 5 is published in 2016 and 20246 (work product reviews) is published in 2017.

Additional details about the current state of development of this standard and the content of different parts can be found at the WG26 page and at the presentations made to date.
